Our clients include national non-profits like the American Mountain Guides Association and the American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education, as well as outdoor brands who are shifting industry paradigms, like Ibex, Alpenglow Expeditions, and Rocky Talkie. Role Purpose

The Account Manager is the bond between Bonfire and our clients. They build trusted relationships, guide day-to-day communications, and help turn client goals into effective marketing.

This role leads project planning, scoping, timelines, and team coordination while working closely across Bonfire’s strategy, creative, and paid media departments. They ensure projects stay on track, work remains aligned with client objectives, and deliverables meet Bonfire’s standards for quality.

As a trusted advisor and the primary point of contact for clients, the Account Manager brings a broad understanding of integrated marketing and can confidently answer questions, provide strategic guidance, and connect clients with the right expertise when needed. They write creative and media briefs, present work and results, identify growth opportunities, and help ensure all work stays on brand and on brief.

This is a hands-on role. In addition to managing projects, Account Managers contribute directly to the work in ways that align with existing strengths or areas of desired growth; examples include writing ad copy, developing email marketing strategies, reviewing creative, and presenting to clients. They also support the operational side of the business through meeting notes, reporting, project documentation, and time tracking.

The best Account Managers are collaborative, organized, proactive, and passionate about the outdoors. They understand the unique challenges facing outdoor, environmental, destination, and mission-driven brands and are motivated by helping clients succeed.

Key Responsibilities

Brand Management & Strategy – 10%
  • Develop a deep understanding of each client’s business, industry, and competitors, aligning all campaigns and executions with the client’s brand strategy.
  • Consult with internal teams to communicate client objectives and develop strategic solutions.
  • Use market research and campaign feedback to evaluate, adjust, and redirect campaigns.
  • Shape strategy, monitor performance, and identify opportunities to generate additional revenue and drive incremental client value/growth.

Client & Project Management – 40%

  • Act as main contact with the client and internal team on a daily basis.
  • Manage and lead internal teams (creative, media, and strategy).
  • Oversee all projects from start to finish; lead in every step of the process and responsible for driving team collaboration.
  • Advocate on behalf of clients internally: offer a deep understanding of client’s industry, business, and marketing goals — continually drive value with this perspective.
  • Drive timelines and project management.

Strategic and Creative Project Work – 30%

  • Collaborate on owned/earned media, advertising strategies, content strategies, and creative campaigns alongside team collaborators.
  • Produce content or other client work tailored to candidate’s strengths and interests, for example: copywriting, research, design, owned or earned strategy.

Financial Stewardship, Profitability & Administration – 20%

  • Build trust and drive revenue through opportunity identification.
  • Develop proposals and estimates.
  • Project, track, and manage client budgets/time.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, manager syncs, staff retreats.
  • Keep your workspace organized and occasionally tidy the office.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned that support other team members or the agency.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of integrated marketing exposure, ideally in an advertising, creative, or communications agency setting.
  • Proven track record of successful client leadership and relationship management. 
  • Experience building and effectively managing cross-departmental teams to execute campaigns.
  • Experience with project management and software such as Asana or Monday.com.
  • Storytelling, strategy, and/or brand marketing background.
  • Impeccable communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of best practices for owned channels, creative, social, ecomm and/or paid media is a plus.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, founder-led, entrepreneurial environment is a plus.
  • Passion for outdoor, environmental, or mission-driven brands.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $65,000–$90,000 to start, depending on experience

Work Environment & Logistics

  • Classification: Full-time exempt employee targeting 40 hours per week.
  • Core schedule: Must be available for key internal and partner meetings during business hours; otherwise, your schedule is self-managed.
  • Location: Hybrid role based in Golden, CO. We expect this role to work in the office at least half of the time. 
  • Travel: Occasional travel for internal and external events and retreats may be required.
